My junk vehicle sickness extends beyond the realm of 4x4s and Jeeps. A '51 Superior Cadillac ambulance? Why not?
I'm finally convinced that I don't have a problem with buying old vehicles. It's not a sickness. I just have to embrace my role as discoverer and defender of vehicles with an excess of character. Eventually I'll own 'em all. I haven't forked over any money for this yet, but I'm highly likely to in the next day or two.
It's a '51 Superior Cadillac ambulance bathed in its original paint and showing only 24,000 miles on the odometer. The factory leather seat is pretty sad and the rubber floor mat is cracked and wasted, revealing rotted floor boards, but it's 100% complete and original. The body has some rust, but no rot. I mean, it's all there. The siren/light on the roof, the spot on the A-pillar, and everything else.
In the back the original gurney, spring loaded jumpseats, and storage compartments are there. It's powered by a 160hp Caddy 331 V8 and a 3-speed manual tranny. All I need to do is flush the tank, buy 4 new L78-15 tires, and throw a new battery in it. Swingin'
