iPhone In The Sand
32910412 Posted May 11 2011 07:21 PM by John Cappa

I'm generally not a nice man but I'm a good guy. It may not make any sense to you but it works for me most of the time. Anyway, yesterday I was cruising my Jeep through the dunes in Ocotillo Wells and I saw what...

Chasing it down

'07-up Jeep Wrangler JK Death Wobble
32870911 Posted May 7 2011 01:55 PM by John Cappa

It started out as a shimmy several months ago. For whatever reason I accidentally ended up increasing the air pressure in the tires to 25 psi. When I hit a rough patch of road or a bump at around 40-45 mph the Jeep...

Breaking all the rules but not my axle

Axle Strength
32826268 Posted May 4 2011 12:00 AM by John Cappa

I'm kind of a self-proclaimed gear and axle guy. So while I let the engine mysteriously spin to unknown RPMs with unknown rattles and knocks, I'll make sure the rest of my drivetrain is tip-top...for the most part....

31092680 Posted May 3 2011 12:00 AM by John Cappa

The front leaf spring on my CJ-2A had broke a while ago. I eventually swapped it out for a used one I had laying around on another Jeep carcass.

Winch cable winding

The Day After Trail Riding
31092569 Posted May 2 2011 12:00 AM by John Cappa

Without fail I usually have to use my winch every 'wheeling trip. And unfortunatly (or maybe fortunately for me) I didn't need it for myself. This time I needed to use my Warn M8274-50 to pull on a guys Dana 60...

Lots of options but these work!

Trailer Tiedowns
31092056 Posted May 1 2011 12:00 AM by John Cappa

Over the years I've tried lots of different kinds of tiedowns when trailering my Jeeps. I've tried plenty of chains and binders and nylon ratchet straps. None of them have been as easy or as clean to use as Mac's...

Still my go-to tire after 10,000 miles?

Goodyear MT/R Kevlar
31091186 Posted April 30 2011 11:25 AM by John Cappa

I just noticed that I've racked up 10,000 miles on one of my go-to tires. The old Goodyear MT/R was kind of the jack-of-all-trades tire for me. It worked pretty good everywhere. It didn't matter if it was rock,...

My friend Lisa at Flex-a-lite has called me lots of things over the years. Late-Adapter is the most recent. I'll admit, I have not been following the latest in smart phone gadgetry. Up until now I've really only...

Wrenching space

Jeff's Garage
32790574 Posted April 27 2011 06:02 PM by John Cappa

When I'm home I spend a good amount of my time in the garage. I always dreamed of having a really cool garage with a sofa, nice floor, beer tap, fooseball table, and so on. But I use my garage too often and these kinds of...

Keeping your clothes in one piece

Off-Road-Worthy Pants
36626430 Posted April 24 2011 09:13 AM by John Cappa

My clothes take a beating when camping and wheeling. So I try and find inexpensive stuff that holds up. Pants are likely the hardest to keep together since you typically wear them more than one day before washing.

32710126 Posted April 22 2011 06:36 AM by Christian Hazel

Is the XJ the best SUV ever made? I think it just might be. But maybe not for the reason you think.

32691991 Posted April 20 2011 09:57 PM by John Cappa

I was out on the street in Moab today and spotted this pretty cool looking CJ for sale. It sported an AMC 401 with aluminum heads, four-link front and rear, coilovers, 1-ton axles, and some other pretty heavy duty parts.
