Never what you need at the junkyard

Weird Winch, Anyone?

I go to the local junkyard in search of a simple Dodge NP208 t-case.  I came home with this instead.

ramsey factory winch

In months past I've literally tripped over the darn t-cases.  Well, when you need one there's none to be found.  But I did stumble across a '79 Cherokee Chief with the rare dealer-installed Ramsey 8000 submerged mount winch.  The winch tucks up between the radiator crossmember and the front of the engine while retaining the factory bumper. I nabbed the winch and most of the obscure mount. I left the forward mount since it requires the front bumper removal to get off and the truck I was working on had a hokey grille guard blocking access.  It's just a length of angle iron, anyway so it's not hard to duplicate.  I degreased it, but haven't checked to see if it works or not yet.  I'm undecided whether I'll put it on my M-715, on my '68 J2000 Gladiator, or on craigslist.
