It's Gore, Not Goth

Little Boo Boo

I guess froma across a room my smashed finger looks like nailpolish.  Nope, just dried blood.

In the Jeep world it's usually the operators who leave a ding or dent on the Jeep.  Not me.  Each Jeep I build leaves me with some sort of body damage.  My orange flattie bought me a few staples in my head.  My M-715 gave me a nice gash in my palm.  Overkill opened up a different spot on my head.  Hatari! resulted in a different smashed finger.  And so on.

The latest was a pinched pinky finger while trying to pry the cylinder head off my '48 CJ-2A.  The prybar slipped and I landed with my little finger on the sharp top edge of the fender-mounted horn, followed by all 170lbs of my body weight.  After a day or so the pulsating didn't let up as blood pooled under the finger nail, so I took a small drill bit and drilled a hole in the nail.  It's a good trick to relieve the pressure and make sure the fingernail doesn't just fall off.

So now I've got a black fingernail for the next few months.  Little goth girls are throwing me winks at the mall and I get "ewws" and "awwws" when I pick up my son at preschool.
