I'm Not Watching Superbowl

Juggy Rear

I'm not watching the Superbowl. I don't even like to watch sports. It's boring. I mean, I like the Superbowl commercials and all but watching guys who get paid way too much to play a sport is a waste of time to me. So I put that time to good use. Instead of watching the Superbowl (and knowing I could see the best commercials online the next day) I put the freshly-made JE Reel driveshafts in my Juggy. Normally this would take about 10 or so minutes for each shaft. In reality it took several hours.

Juggy Front

Normally you would find a CV shaft in the rear of a rig like mine. I hate CV shafts. I'm running single 1410 joints so I had to adjust the rear pinion to get the correct driveshaft angle. This lead me to figuring out that the axle wasn't perfectly centered and that it was also crooked in the chassis. After a couple hours of measuring and adjusting the four-link I got it pretty close to straight and centered. And at full droop there is no driveshaft binding. Perfect! I'll have to see if there is any vibration when I get it driving. The pinion is a few degrees off, but I'm pretty much out of adjustment unless I move the axle back slightly. Up front is another standard single U-jointed JE Reel driveshaft. The axle end is a 1410 but the transfer case end had to be a 1350 for crossmember clearance. No biggie, only the 1350 yoke on my Atlas didn't offer enough angularity. So after installing and removing the driveshaft a few times and trimming with a die grinder in between I got it all to work. No binding at full droop. This has pretty much been the mode of operation with this Jeep. Anytime I think a project will take a couple minutes it turns out to be an all-day deal.
