Why is it when I actually want to buy a Jeep I can't find any decent ones. But in the last week I've bought a vintage M-38A1, passed up super-cool free flattie body with steering, etc., and now this Jeepster comes along.
Hell, maybe I'll buy it anyway even though I don't have the room for it. I could park it at the office like Trasborg and Pewe do with all of their crap. At least that way I'd have it when I'm ready to turn it into a daily driver come this fall.
I think I'd keep the stock Buick 225 (of course) and would find an SM420 so I could run the hybrid Spicer 18/20 with the gennie Warn Overdrive I used to have in my orange flattie. It's been sitting in the shed patiently waiting to be reused since I swapped in the Dana 300 a few years ago. The offset t-case would require swapping out the stock centered Dana 44, so I'm thinking maybe a custom Ford 9-inch with 4.10 or 4.56 gears and a Truetrac diff for the rear and a wide-track Dana 30 with disc brakes for the front. The goofy shackle lift and what seems to be a homemade body lift would need to come out. I'd only want 30s or 31s on it anyway. And I say it every time and haven't done it yet, but I may even paint this one.
