I don't know what it is. Maybe it was backpacking from the early age of 12... but for some reason, its been drummed into me to hydrate. Drink lots of fluids and I will be ok. I spent years in the Scouts in the woods... always I was hearing about hydration, and after seeing a few people severely dehydrated started preaching about "clear and copious"
Well, fast forward two decades and I still consume more liquids in a given day than most anyone I know. There are a few caveats though. I'm allergic to milk, I don't like "fake" juice, and real juice at the quantities needed is outside my budget. "Drink water" you'll say.
Fine, and I do. Today, for example, I was in the office for 9 hours, and downed somewhere around 250 ounces of water. In addition to that I had a 12 oz coke, and a 25.4 oz green tea.
The point is, I get tired of water, and soda is cheap. So, I've been drinking way too much soda. I want something with flavor, dang it. And, no lemon juice in the water isn't enough, I want more. So, I've started making "sun tea." Put tea bags and sugar in whatever I had around (growlers) and let it sit in the afternoon sun on the back porch. Result is a light, but flavorfull enough beverage for me to break up the monotony of the water.
