Junkyard Jeep Parts

It's nearly impossible for me to throw out old drivetrain parts. Even lowly Jeep Dana 25 front axles. This time it paid off.

I was taking some measurements for my Sloppy Seconds Jeep hot rod when I came to the conclusion that the early CJ Dana 25 front axle I planned to use was not wide enough to work with the hairpin suspension and transverse-mounted early CJ front spring. So after a few minutes of head scratchin' I realized I had a 60-inch-wide Dana 25 front axle from a Willys pickup behind my garage. I zapped off the factory spring perches and voilà, I had a wide enough axle for my hot rod suspension that was a better match for my 65-inch-wide junkyard hand-me-down Ford 9-inch rearend. Now all I have to do is remove the '73-J2000 closed-knuckle Dana 44 brakes from the Dana 25 I had planned to use, and bolt them on my Dana 25 axle. Simple!
