A buddy of mine recently gave me a Pioneer AVIC N1 head unit. It was free, so I figured, "why not?". He told me that a ribbon cable was broken in it, and that it would be like a $100 fix. I've never pulled one of them apart before, but I figured how hard could it be?
So, I spent 70 bucks for the cable, and a few other parts... have not much of a clue what I'm doing, and I'm totally depending on either one of the guys in the office who did this on a similar unit a couple years ago, or just straight up divine intervention.
On the bright side, if it works, I get in dash GPS navigation, satellite radio, and who knows what all other gee-gaws for 70 bucks.
