My Jeep Hot Rod is a Roller!

I slapped on some loaner miss-matched wheels and tires and tossed the body on to see what my flatrod Jeep would look like as a roller.

Altered Radiator and Seats

I think I like the way the 30x9.50 tires look (front driver side). Now I need to go find some 30x9.50s that look vintage.

Anyway, yes, I know, the seats are too tall and will need to have about 6-8 inches chopped out of them but it looks like an easy task. I already started pulling them apart. Greg Smith, Art Director for sister mag Four Wheeler chopped an image for me (see second image) to see what it would look like.

OK, need opinions on the radiator sticking above the grille a little, yey or nay? I have not mounted it. But I can, all I need is a 15-inch fan to replace the huge 19-incher that is in there now. Simple. But I cannot lower it any further, I'll need a different radiator if you don't like the popout. So should it be below the grille as shown on the second image? I personally don’t think it looks too bad as is…but…

Other input? Anyone...

I never did catch what engine you're going to run. Looks like an iron duke?

6. No hood, no front diff cover. I already yanked the pinion and shafts from the front axle.

It will run and drive looking as you see it when it is finished...well, I still have to figure out a windshield and tires. But I have some ideas. Stay tuned.

7. The engine is an early '60s GM 194 inline-six.

8. I love this build. You have taken two of my favorite things and combined them. As far as the windshield goes, I would chop a stock windshield frame and cut the glass. For the tires why not throw on some NDTs? If not Coker tire has a lot of options, in addition to NDTs.

Reminds me of a similar vehicle that I remember from the late 60's in Dillon, MT - only that one was powered by a not-so-mild 327 and was a pretty wicked machine which probably weighed in at a good deal less than 2000#. It used a standard Ford type drop axle up front. As for the radiator-the solution is obvious-put a 3B body on it. Now don't curse too loud!!!!

12. Yep, I have a 3A windshield frame I plan to chop. Just not sure exactly how I should do it yet.
But I kinda think I should start with a 3B frame instead. They are a little shorter.

13. i like the radiator sticking out, it kinda gives it a retro rod look. maybe you could track down one of those fancy caps with a guage in it. how about nitto tires? they might have something that looks like the old hot rod tires. and maybe a set of old school slots for your rims.

14. Johnny - It's a 194, not a 192. And leave me enough room to mount a turbo on the exhaust, will ya? I think I can monkey one on there after you get it up and running. it'll give me a chance to play with the new TIG.
