Building a Bar

Household Bar

So, I ran up to Reno recently, and my buddy Cody gave me a whole passel of wood basically on a whim.  Ok, maybe not a whim... but still.

Cross Section

I normally won't talk about doing anything before thinking about it for a long time, and even after starting to talk about it I think about it some more... I've been thinking about building a bar for my new place for a while... even went through CAD drawings to "see" what it'd look like.

So, I mention to Cody on my last trip up there that I was thinking about it, and he says, well, what kind of wood are you gonna use?  My stock answer "whatever is cheap".  That answer led us to a couple of hours in his hand me down lumber yard with lots of cedar and redwood and loading up my trailer for the trip back to SoCal with bunch of neat wood.

Anyway, here's my 20 minute CAD drawing of the cross section of my imaginary bar..

I'm sure a ton of things will change in the design before its done, but here's a prelim look, and some shots of the raw materials.
