Vintage Towing

Just something about it...

There is just something cool about an older Jeep towing something.

It strikes a chord with me, I think, it has to do with the fact that I just think, at some level, that a Jeep should be working... and something about a Jeep towing another Jeep or a camper, or a big old boat I just thing is cool.  Maybe that's why I like towing with the Grand so much.  I dunno.  Anway, I saw this somewhere in Washington or Oregon and shot the pic cause I thought it was cool.

1. Cool? Maybe. But chances are he's stopped either because the temp gauge pegged yet again or he ran out of gas from the 3mpg that sucker probably delivers.

2. LOL. I find no end to the amusement I get from you and Cappa for you guys being so down on Jeeps.

I didn't expect you guys to chime in to smash this thing till tomorrow morning though.

That said, yeah, the impression I got was that it'd overheated... all the people were out wandering around in looking at things, and I thought I saw steam, but it didn't show up in the pic.

Still think towing things like that with Jeeps is cool.

4. LOL... call it what you will... but whenever someone around the office talks about getting an old Jeep for whatever both of you guys are quick to bash on it for whatever it has wrong.

Whether you mean to or not, its the way it comes off.

not

"well it was higher altitude and thats a 20 year old vehicle, it might have problems cooling"

OR

"ran out of gas from the 3mpg that thing delivers"

not

"failed to monitor his fuel gauge and get gas"

So, yeah... comes off as being down on old Jeeps.

Look, we all know that they have their problems, and I personally know you guys don't particularly hate them all from working with you, but the way it comes off as "being down on" or "hating" them. That is a side effect of always pointing out shortcomings, often in no uncertain terms and frequently with a tone of derision about said vehicle in question but rarely singing praises. Whether you guys mean it to be or not, its how it comes off.

Just sayin man... I still think there is something cool about towing something like that with a vintage Jeep

5. the best thing about them is that they are usually paid for and either the disaproving head shakes or the approving nods from passerbys are what make is fun and interesting.

6. i'm pretty sure the driver is just taking a leak.

look at the feet... someone is getting in the trailer.

7. you know theres probably nothing wrong at all w/the jeep. they may be taking a break from driving to each some lunch or the old mans viagra kicked in and he needed IT taken care of! look shes the last one out! lol

8. I dunno guys... they all kinda had that look on their faces.... some peeved, others bewildered...LOL.

I'm not sure what gave me that vibe, but broke down was what I thought.
