Move Over Slowpoke

Left Lane Enforcement

I know I drive an inordinate amount compared to many.  Between the sheer mileage I rack up (near 50,000 this year to date) and my crappy luck with traffic (20 mile trips often take 3 hours.. on a freeway... not during rush hour) I spend a lot of time on the road.  So, you can imagine the guy in the left lane doing 10-15 under the limit irks me.

Slowpoke

Irk is putting it lightly.  I've found here in SoCal the largest concentration of idiots (they are going slower than me - Carlin reference) that never look in their mirrors, never move out of the way.  Heck if I had a buck for the amount of times I've seen cops park on the slow pokes rear bumper, and them not even notice, I'd be able to get a Starbucks coffee free everytime I go anywhere.

For years now I've been saying that cops should be allowed to pull over people who don't yield the right-of-way.  Looks like they are finally.  I found this story linked from the MSN home page this morning:

The other thing that really kills me, is out here we've got 5, 6, 7-lane highways, but on many hills, trucks and busses take up 3 or 4 of those lanes, often doing no more than 45 or so at the fastest.  It should be illegal for trucks to get out of the two right lanes, regardless of speed.
