Using the wood

Bar Building

A month or two ago I put up a blog about a pile of wood  I dragged home.  Well, I finally got around to cutting it up for that bar I was talking about.

Rip to fit Redwood

I've had a lot of time thanks to the weather to not be outside, and I've spent some of it on AutoCAD drawing.  I've got elevations, sections, and floor plans of the bar that I'm building.

Let's step back.  A typical dining room table doesn't really fit the space I have available, and if I'm to be honest, doesn't really fit my lifestyle.  I'm not a set the table and sit down for a meal kind of guy.  Most of my meals are eaten while doing at least one other thing, or on the run.

So, I decided that a "bar" would suit my place and me much better than a stor bought table.  For one, I can build a bar out of real wood rather than pressboard for less than I can put a table in my place, and for another thing, I'm just not a huge fan of "sitting down to eat".

Anyway, here's the footprint of the bar and a mockup of the bar surface (I still think its redwood.)
