For a guy who doesn't need/want to go out of his way to see snow, I sure did an inordinant amount of snow wheeling recently.
If you've been reading the blogs, you know that TriCountyKeith invited me out for some wheeling in snow, and of it's own I'm not a huge fan... but when he mentioned it'd be in the hills near where I live, on what I thought would be trails I'd not conquered yet, I was in.
Our trail leader for the day was out in a CJ-8 with a half-cab, 33's, and his dog in the back... talk about 3 different shades of envy. I wish I had the time to put my -8 on the road, I still haven't gotten my half cab fitted, and my dog is on the other side of the country. That Golden was having a blast all day long.
As usual, it was a good day wheeling, even though the snow got too deep for us to reasonably make it to the other end of the trail.
After an hour of snow-bashing (me and another guy getting stuck while tethered and pulling the other out) we decided we didn't wanna try to get off the hill after dark and called.
I bailed to go into the office, but the rest of the guys went down another trail. It was a good time, and thanks for inviting me Keith. Let me know next time you guys wanna tackle more trails up this way, if I'm here, I'm in.
