It's raining out, I'm bored, I'm going off-road

It had been raining nearly 3 days straight and there wasn't really anything that I wanted to do in the garage. So I figured I'd take my freshly 37-inch shod J2000 to the mountains. I didn't think there would be any snow since it had been kind of warm. But I was wrong.

Anyway, I met up with Ali from 4 Wheel & Off-Road magazine and Jerrod from Off-Road magazine and we rallied up to Kern County. It was cold and raining but there were patches of snow at the bottom at around 6,000 feet. But it actually got 8-12 inches deep by the time we reached the top of the mountain at around 7,500 feet. It was an awesome day trip even though Jerrod's XJ was overheating until we hardwired the electric fan directly to the battery. For a while he kept tossing snow on the engine to cool it off. No, it didn't work all that well.
