Making up for a mistake

I was kinda tweaked when Jeep killed the XJ off early. To this day, I'd still love an '01. I sure don't need one, but...

I'd like a '92 Comanche too... but I sure don't need one.

Anyway, its funny to me that Jeep kills off the XJ in favor of the pansified Liberty. And then 5 or so years later build a "new" Jeep off the WK platform that was picked right from the XJ design manual.

Anyway, I had my XJ down at the car wash after some mudding and what showed up next to my Jeep but the poseur Jeep.

Anyway, the irony is that not only did Jeep kill the XJ early when it was selling well, but they spent however much in making an imposter XJ in attempts to boost sales, attracted all the wrong sorts of people, and have a Jeep that they can't give away.

3. I have to defend the XK. Although there are some simularities between the XJ and the XK, the vehicles are 99.9% different. Both in styling and in functionality. I agree that Jeep should have kept the XJ around and if you have a 2001, hold on to it. That was one of the best years for reduced wind noise in a XJ.
Now, I have to say that you are completely off base with your comment that the XK attracts "all the wrong sorts of people". You will find that with every automotive product, you have the good people and the bad people who buy every model... even the XJ.
The XK on and Off-road performance is great. Powered with a 5.7L Hemi gives it great acceleration on the highway and the Quadra-Drive 4WD system with ELSD makes it trail ready. Next time you have a chance, take a XK out for a spin... you might fall in love with it. :^)

4. When did Jeep employees start responding to blogs on this site? If you know what ELSD is, you must not be a salesman.

I went to the local dealership to pick up a part for my xj today. I realized that Jeep attracts all the wrong people as salesmen.

Things like "dana 44" and "transfer case" should not draw a blank stare. I had to shine the poor old man on (he intercepted me as I was getting out of the truck) by saying, "I'll buy a used JK in about 10 years, when they are worth the price." That drew another blank stare though. (I don't think he knew what a JK was.)
