Which Jeep to TDS?

Down to a coin toss

I'll be leaving for the annual TDS Desert Safari in Truckhaven, CA tomorrow. Now, which Jeep do I take?

Out of all the magazine wanks, I'm the closest to this event since it's just (sort of) over the mountian from my house. Because of its proximity, I usually enjoy driving, rather than trailering one of the Jeeps out there.

That automatically leaves out the flatty, with its steep rear driveshaft angle and offset trunion U-joints in the rear shaft. I'd vibrate the output bearing out of the Dana 300 T-case before I even got to the Salton Sea

The $500 WHY-J is nearly ready. I'm just waiting on some new spring shims to correct the rear pinion angle for the new Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts 1310 CV shaft I just installed in conjunction with a small lift. The parts should be here today, which gives me enough time to git'r'done. The downside is that the radiator is technically only held in place by the radiator hoses. I tried braze-welding the mounts back to the tank, but they snapped off again. I don't relish the thought of loosing the cooling system out there from all the bumping around. It's a maybe.

The M-715 has gone the past two years in a row. The first time was part of Jp's military convoy event. It was the truck's maiden voyage with the new GMPP 290hp 350 engine. Other than the engine, the truck was completely stock. Last year I took it again with a newly-swapped-in Ranger Overdrive, GM SM465 tranny, and Atlas II T-case. It was miserable out there because of the super-stiff suspension. However, unlike last year it's now sporting a Detroit Locker in the rear, Corbeau bucket seats, and power steering. It's another possibility.

I don't think I'll really decide until I'm standing in the driveway with my camping gear. Any opinions? Which rig should I drive to TDS this year?
