Hobbies vs. Bank Account

The Wish List

There's more to life than just Jeeps. Trouble is, all my hobbies cost an arm and a leg.

Like most guys, all my hobbies are silly-expensive. I started adding up some of the things on my wish list. I don't play the lottery, but with my salary I probably should.

I've been mountain biking a ton lately. Trouble is I'm quickly outgrowing the capabilities of my current bike. The new Santa Cruz I'm eyeballing is over $3,000. That ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Then, boating season is here. My wakeboard is a really nice Hyperlite model, but it's kinda old school and there's better technology out there now. Add $600 into the mix for a new board and bindings.

Then, my boat trailer needs new tires. Toss on another $500 to get to the river safely. Oh, and $2,800 for a new wakeboard tower with board racks, $1,200 for cruise control, $500 for a ballast system so we can wakesurf behind it, and another $1,500 for a killer sound system.

Then they just opened up a killer motocross track at the Pala casino only 20-minutes from me. Add a $2,500 used KTM into the mix along with another $500 in gear and supplies. And if I get a bike, my wife is gonna want that $3,000 quad. And if mom and dad have bikes, the boys are gonna want their own, so add another $500 for a Z50 and $500 for a little quad. Oh, and a $28,000 5th wheel toyhauler to bring the Jeeps and motorcycles to the desert in the winter.

Sometimes I just laugh at how much money it costs to be a regular guy. Anybody wanna buy a Jeep?
