So in three weeks, I got to go cover Four Wheeler's Top Truck Challenge, the Rubicon Trail, and Petersen's Ultimate Adventure. That's gotta be some kind of trifecta.

It starts out with Cappa talking me into going up to Hollister Hills to cover Top Truck Challenge. Talk about a cool event. With 10 rigs, 2 alternates, and most of them running very healthy V-8s (with a couple of diesels) it was a cool event. These guys flog the hell out of these rigs. Talk about a good show. We shot tons of pictures shared em with Four Wheeler, and you can see the coverage in Four Wheeler's November and December issues and see the Jeeps in our October issue.

Top of Cadillac Hill
Just another day on the trail.

Then my girlfirend, Missy flew into Reno and met me there and we went out and ran the Rubicon trail. Well, we got in as far as Big Sluice from the Tahoe side and then turned around and went back. It was a shakedown run for all three rigs (YJ, TJ, and JK) and they all did great. I got to experiance the Rubicon last year for Jeeper's Jamboree, but this was Missy's first time. Now she's basically told me we are going to take the YJ on 40s out there so she can drive it. Its only a matter of time before the enviro-nazis shut down this iconic trail, might as well get it in while we can.

Front wheel lockup

Then she suprised me and flew me out to PA so we could go to Ulitimate Adventure. As long as Petersen's 4-Wheel and Off Road has been doing this run, I've wished I could go, and since it just happened to be near Missy's favorite brewpub (Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh) it was an easy sell. So, we got to tag along on UA for a couple of days but Missy's Jeep (the orange one) isn't quite setup for the UA trails, although we were on one, we didn't follow them down the trails. Still a good time though.

Check out the CJ-7... the rear ring and pinion blew up, and then driving it to the shop in front wheel drive, something locked up and the tranny went out. Read more about it in the November and December issues of Peterson's 4-Wheel and Off Road. Mabye next year I can go for real... Its a week-long trip of driving to the trail, wheeling, and driving your Jeep to the next trail. If you break, you gotta fix it, no trailering allowed
