I'm the kind of guy that can get overwhelmed by having too much to complete on a project. You could say I don't have vision or patience but the truth is I hate running around town all day looking for the impossible-to-find parts that I need to spin wrenches for 20 minutes.
So I started writing things down. I walk around the project while I work on it and as I run into roadblocks or tasks that require parts or work I write it down. When I complete it, I cross it off the list. Anyway, while cleaning my house I found a couple of those lists and it got me to thinking about my Juggy (which is what the old lists were for). Looking at the Jeep as a whole was overwhelming to me. It seemed like it would never get done. But looking at a list of little 20-minute to 1-day projects made it so much easier for me to work on. I could come home from work and finish something small before dinner. Or take a day on the weekend to work on something that needed attention. I also would write down the bolt, clamp, or hose sizes I needed the next time I was at the store. It really helped me make the most of my time and parts runs.
When it got down to it I was surprised how close I was to done on my Juggy. All that was left was add tranny fluid, install a dipstick, and a few other small things. It took less than a day to knock it all out. But, without the list I would have been kinda stumbling along trying to remember what I needed and what was left to finish.
