Must.... NOT... buy....

My first flattie was a '46 CJ2A. My second flattie was a CJ2A. I've missed both of them since I got rid of em, long about 10 years ago. It is so hard for me to not call on this ad.

The '46 thing goes deeper than two flatties. I brought one back to life way back when... when I started on it I was hoping that my dad would get to see it and see that I was worthy of having the Model T pickup to build. He'd bust on me about needing a kidney belt when driving in the Jeep, but whatever.

Gone Flattie Gone

Thing is, my dad, also born in '46 never did get to see the flattie I got on the road. I later found out that the flatfender was made about August, and my dad in October. I was able to bring the flattie back, but couldn't do a damn thing for dad. He passed away in Sept of 98 of a motor neuron disorder which is similar to muscular dystrophy, I kept the flattie around for another half a year, but the spark was out of working on it and pretty soon I needed cash for another Jeep (might have even been my 715) and I traded it for a Maserati, which I then sold.

My flatfender, meantime, went to a NPO never to be seen by me again, and is presumably still being flown around the world in a 60-70 year old plane from WW2. I missed that Jeep as soon as it was getting strapped to the flatbed.

Anyway, I never did get to finish up my column-shift CJ2A and now to this day I'd like to put together another flattie. Intellectually, I'd rather a later -3A, but  I still have a soft spot for the '46 2As.

So, this sign went up on the billboard up at the corner store near my home, its for sale locally, I think I even know the guy selling it (we are gonna park his running MB in the back of my 715 for a photo-op), but I resist even calling the number.

I resist because I know I'd go look at it if I called, I know I'd either talk him down to the magic 1000 dollar number or barter him down somehow, and then I'd end up with another Jeep project at a time when another project is the very and absolute last thing I need.

The other end.

So I'm not calling. Maybe one of you will and save me the temptation. Just don't drive by my place if you do buy it. I don't wanna know about it. It'll be better that way. Really. I'm convinced of it.

Here's a couple pics of my flattie that got away. These are like the only two I've been able to find, and I just realized I had the spare on it for them... yep, totally different tire for the spare.
