It's official. Overkill is back on my radar. Time to move forward by taking several large steps backwards.
I got the Moroso 10-quart marine oil pan all cinched up and filled the crankcase of the Olds 455 with 10-quarts of Royal Purple synthetic - AGAIN. I want to get the engine and tranny mounted in the vehicle, but I couldn't with the high pinion axle in the way.
Today after installing some parts in my '89 YJ I built some way heavy duty stands from some scrap steel for the rear. I'll build some for the front in a couple days so I can get my jack stands back. I pulled the front and rear axles and suspension. Now I can start fabbing up some motor mounts, finish fully boxing the frame, and then build a tranny mount so I can get the drivetrain up off the floor finally.
None of the suspension I built is going to hang around. I've decided to run this truck in 2WD form with I-beams up front and a 4-link in the rear. I'll have to notch away the rear frame for some better uptravel, but hopefully the new suspension will live up to Murderous Overkill's monkier.
