Follow the Sheeple

Electric Car Blah

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of electric vehicles. But really people, think it through. I'm sick of the sheeple jumping on the bandwagon "It's GREEEN!!!!!!!!"

If it weren't for this current rash of rectal-cranial inversion syndrome going around we'd be a lot better off.

I like the idea of 100% of power at 1rpm. I like the idea of not having to pay for fuel so dang much. Heck, even the thought of individual wheel motors for cool cutting brake action I'm all about.

What gets my goat is the sycophants who tout electric cars as the cure-all to pollution and fixing the environment. All you are doing is taking pollution from here and polluting over there. Example: Now we burn fossil fuels locally (from gas tank to combustion chamber)... if we were to go all electric, power plants (be it nuclear or coal) would be forced to burn more to keep up with demand.

Oh, and while we are on power plants... California already can't keep up with power demands, our plants are ancient, and the state is pushing more electric vehicles? Yeah, good idea. Say hello to mandatory hours out of the day where you have no power.

And, lets step away from the little sleight of hand that all the greenies bought hook line and sinker. What about the batteries themselves? They don't last forever and some of those chemicals are just downright nasty.

I dunno.. I like the idea for the reasons I mentioned. But I'm sick of the sheeple who are trying to force it on me without having thought it through. Oh, and that's not even to mention range limitations.

Oh, lead picture is a Nissan Tama electric car, circa 1947.

And, here's a real-world electric Jeep drivetrain from an '88 Cherokee. If you have some time, check out this website about the conversion. This guy did a really good job with it, I think.
