Pre Rodder On the Radar

Overkill On Deck

Welp, for the first time in a while I laid grinder and tools to my '48 Willys Pre-Rodder buildup, Murderous Overkill.

Yesterday I started in again, cutting off the rear shackle hangers. No easy task, mind you because they were pretty well gusseted and welded. I need to grab some more abrasive discs to grind the framerails down to bare metal and order some heavy-duty poly motor mounts for the Olds big block. Then I can build a new crossmember and mount the engine and tranny.

Once that's done, I can cut off the front frame extensions, complete with spring hangers I built and then get started on the J-arms for the 2WD I-beam suspesnion this beast will sport up front. This'll be my first coilover suspension with bypass shocks, but not my first 2WD Jeep. That honor goes to my orange DJ-3A. However, on that rig I took a 2WD Jeep and made if 4WD. Overkill is going the other way. Wish me luck. I'll need it.
