What did you guys do this weekend? I froze. Saturday I helped out with a disc-golf food/clothes drive aptly named the Ice Bowl.
The gig is put on every year by the Bucks County Disc Golf Alliance, and they raise a ridiculous amount of food, and money each January for needy people. This mountain of food went to a local church's soup kitchen.
The deal is, the club gets together, has a tournament, and any food that the participants bring knocks off some of the entrance fee. Here's the sign-in table, with the pile of discs that came with the registration.
Some of the shots are rough, with the basket hidden behind a tree, but through use of english on the release of disc, it can be made to curve and sometimes even hit baskets hidden behind trees.
So, what did I do? After applying my tent-pertise to assisting in assembling the big azz tent that blocked the wind, I later moved along to cooking chili, cheese, and hot dogs over an open flame to create hot dog sundays once the participants got back from the 20-some holes they were shooting.
Oh yeah, it was like 24 degrees with a fairly constant 25 mph wind. fun.
