Yet another Jeep we weren't supposed to see till Wednesday. We spotted this one yesterday but didn't get a chance to snap any shots. This morning before we hit the trails in Moab we saw it parked right there in our hotel lot. It doesn't get much easier than that so I walked over and grabbed a few shots. Here's what I know and what I have heard...ahem...I mean suspect.
As mentioned yesterday the Mopar Immortal sports a Hemi V-8 and what look like 42-inch Goodyear MT/R tires (sorry, I didn't check) among other mods. Basically the lift is provided by the Axletech Motorsports/Mopar portal boxes on the ends of the Dynatrac ProRock 44 front axle and AAM 3/4-ton rear axle. The portal boxes provide a 1.5:1 gear reduction and 4.9 inches of lift. The Jeep is really wide and it's really tall, and it really doesn't have any uptravel to speak of. Because of all that clearance it would be fun in a boulder garden or a whomp in deep mud. Now what you might be wondering is why would Mopar offer something so extreme? Good question. Word is they don't plan to. We expect to see a smaller more marketable 3/4-sized version of these Axletech Motorsports portal boxes available through Mopar Performance for your Jeep. That would mean you could get your Jeep's lift and axle gearing all with one part!
