Well, just when I have all but given up on finding a new project rig, along comes this CJ-7 for sale near me. I e-mailed. If it's not a scam I may just buy it today.

 My only hang-up is I can't tell from the photo if that's rust/rot on the tub and windshield frame or just primer.

If it's really an '85 it should have a Dana 300 T-case, wide-track Dana 30 front with disc brakes, and probably a Model 20 rear. There's a chance it's got a Dana 44 rear, but I'm not holding out hope. It'd be easy enough to swap something better in there if it isn't.
