Long Live "The Disco Bomb"

Monkey Bus No More

Cappa called my FSJ "The Monkey Bus." I ran with it for a while, but the name just doesn't speak to me.

My '78 Cherokee Chief is now a full-blown runner. I've been using it as a daily-driver on local trips and moderately long freeway hops for almost a week. And the more I stare at the original eight-track and pseudo-brushed aluminum gauge surround; the more the period-correct vinyl digs into my legs and the three-spoke steering wheel conforms to my hands; and the more I reacquaint myself with a daily-dose of unburned hydrocarbons and leaky-carb-in-cabin gasoline fumes, the more the words "Disco Bomb"  enters my conscious.

I offhandedly refer to my '53 Flattie as my "jalopy". I call my YJ my "beater". I've been referring to my FSJ as my "bomb". And with zero desire to purge the '70s interior components or exterior graphics, the Disco Bomb seems an appropriate monicker. Guess I gotta scrounge up a period-correct set of 15x8.5 Ansen slot-type mags from a '70s Blazer to fit the vibe. eBay, here I come.
