Chief Under Wraps

Garage Parking

Tonight my Cherokee is gonna sleep in the garage. I wonder if it's the first time ever for this vehicle.

I know the previous owners parked this vehicle outside. I wonder if it ever got a spot in a garage in its entire life.

I'm about half-way through the installation of my new MTS poly fuel tank. I had to make a big detour to fix the gaping hole in the floor and address the seat mount bracket that punctured the hole in the stock tank. I cut a piece of sheetmetal to size and welded it over the hole in the floor from underneath. Then I cut and welded a new foot plate to the seat bracket. It's solid and waterproof for the first time since probably the mid- '90s when the interior was redone.

I could've wrapped up the install, but the factory fuel lines were pretty rotted and I'm all out of 1/4-inch fuel hose for the return line. Rather than push the Chief outside I'll leave my flattie parked in my yard. It's wearing my YJ Bestop cab cover to keep the nasties off of it 'till I can put it back in the garage tomorrow.

I can't wait to wrap up the Chief fuel tank install. It'll be so nice to finally not breathe fuel vapors...and have my seat falling through the floor.
