So Today a few friends and I drove up the back way from Phoenix to Crown King, AZ.

Crown King Trail
Crown King trail

Crown King is a cool little mining town in the mountains north of Phoenix. It's a fun drive up a trail that takes you from the Saguaro filled low elevation deserts near Lake Pleasant, AZ up into high deserts, and finally up into  pine forests near the mining town. The Crown King Saloon has some of the best burgers and fries anywhere! The trail has been graded and is pretty easy in any 4x4 Jeep right now. There are a few cool harder optional offshoots from the trail along the way. Its a good time, but use to be more fun before being graded. On one of the harder off shoots one of my buddies found this. I am pretty sure that's part of a NP231 transfer case. Wow I have had bad days, but the poor bastard who blew apart his T-case half way up the back way to Crown King sure had one hell of a bad day!
