One of these days I'd love it if we could make a Jp Magazine Vintage Trail Trip event a reality. Like a more down-to-earth and realistic version of 4-Wheel & Off-Road's Ultimate Adventure or a more accessible version of Four Wheeler's Top Truck. Vintage rigs would be a requirement Nothing built after 1978. Or maybe even 1975. That would weed out a lot of the belly-button, weenie-built rigs and would hopefully ensure true vintage 4x4 enthusiasts are the ones who make the cut.
One of these days maybe we could drive up from So Cal and meander through the valleys and dirt roads of Arizona and Utah into Colorado and then poke around abandoned ghost towns and mining sites hitting scenic byways and trails as we went. Highways and trailers would be strictly taboo and diners and hole-in-the-wall joints would replace McDonalds and Denny's.
One of these days maybe we'll scrape up the time..and the extra manpower needed to keep our Jp ship afloat while we're out of the office and handle the nightmarish logistics that come with putting on any magazine event. I'd take my CJ-6 once it was whipped into shape. I'm sure Cappa would take his flatfender project and Trasborg would probably use one of his Jeepsters. We'd invite our friends to come along. No hand-holding...like Hot Rod's Power Tour. We actually tried it before on Jp's Mayhem event. It didn't work..but maybe one of these days it would.
