I was researching A/C R-134a conversions in anticipation of making the antiquated A/C system in my '78 Cherokee blow cold once again when I rediscovered Trasborg's story from the September '10 issue of Jp.

I remember reading and editing that story, A/C Made E-Z when we were creating that issue, but I had forgotten all the detail he crammed into a mere three pages. It's really a killer overview of how an automotive A/C systems works, what each part does, and what you should look/check out when converting from R-12 Freon to R-134a. Trasborg also got a lot of great into, tips, and tricks from Jeep Air president, Jon Delucia. If you're getting ready to make your Jeep's A/C blow cold this summer, check it out.
