After the discovery that the OBD1 Jeep runs in closed loop even at cooler temperatures, I went ahead and swapped a 180-degree T-stat into it. I was hoping that the cooler air/fuel charge and overall cooler operating temp of the engine would make more power. It did. But what I got as a bonus was cool too.
Previously, at operating temperature of 210 degrees or so, the truck's A/C would only blow at like 49-50 degrees. After swapping T-stats and dropping the overall temp of the engine, I'm in the low 40's coming out the center vent with no other change to the A/C
I mean, it makes sense that this would be the case, but in doing the T-stat swap I never thought of it. Now I can cruise in comfort even through the desert with the A/C blaring.
