The wait is over...at least for some. Jeep announced today it is putting the 3.0L V-6 EcoDiesel into the Grand Cherokee Platform. Now you can have a 240hp/420lb-ft diesel Grand Cherokee with an eight-speed auto tranny that'll get 30 mpg and tow 7,400 lbs.

We're thinking it's only a matter of time until looming increasingly strict fuel economy standard force Jeep to put the new diesel into the Wrangler platform. Could a diesel Wrangler be a reality for the US market in the next couple years? Very, very likely. Until then, how about a diesel Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, Jeep?
