Love JK pickup conversions? Get giddy with the thought of having every tool and piece of field recovery equipment imaginable? Drool over 1-ton axles, 40-inch tires, and smog-legal V-8 conversions for your Jeep? You'll want to check this out.

Discount Tire and Jp magazine are teaming to build the ultimate field service vehicle from an '07 Wrangler Unlimited. RESQ1 has already undergone a smog-legal conversion at Turn Key Powertrain to exhume the 3.8L turd and factory four-speed auto transmission. And right now it's at Off Road Evolution where Mel and the crew are putting the torch to the rest of the vehicle to ensure it'll work as well on the trail as it will in the pits. So go check out the project here: dtresq1.com. You can read stories and watch video of the engine swap, watch RESQ1 burn rubber, and see us chop the back end off a perfectly good JK. And sign up for updates as the build unfolds or check back often 'cause stuff is happening fast with this build.
